Firstly, it's taken me ages to find this post, lol. It's well hidden! I know someone who's struggling with money at the moment and I wanted to buy a few bits of food for them (dried stuff, tea bags, noodles, pasta, washing up liquid, wash powder etc). What's the pricing of food and laundry stuff like in Home Bargains, is it cheaper than the supermarket? Thanks

It's cheaper for most things, but it doesn't have everything. You'd definitely be better going there first and then nipping to the supermarket for anything you can't find.

Sorry, not a HB find a but a heads up for some people who I know read this thread.
Bishop Auckland is getting a Poundland
Walked past the old Catalogue Shop, Ethel Austins and the one that used to be a framing/hairdressing place, they are all going to be one big Poundland.

Thanks ChrisCar. Meanwhile, Aycliffe has neither Poundland, B&M Bargains or Home Bargains... :(
Peterlee's got Poundworld, B&M and HB.

Most importantly though for Bishop Auckland, it's empty High St shops being brought back in to use, which is crucial.
There was a rumour some time ago that Home Bargains might open in Aycliffe. They'll have plenty of choice for premises; Superdrug is now closed, ditto Woolies ..Leonards.. HSBC!!

Not Aycliffe I know, but Darlington is getting at least one B&M opening soon where No Frills DIY shop was. Also possibly going to be another one where MFI used to be. I think they're going to be the big homewares stores :)

My OH suffers with a bad back and today bought a folding walking stick for £3.49 in the Port Talbot branch. A similar model was £12 in our local mobility shop!

Sorry if this has alreasy been posted, but thought I would give local people the heads up that Redditch now has a Home Bargains. It is on the retail park near Aldi and Pets at Home, etc.

    Hope this helps someone :)
