I am curious as to which mattress protector the poster who advised against Silentnight would recommend? Having been a hwife and nurse for almost 30 years and well versed in bedmaking I would be interested to hear your experience with this product or is it' big makes' in particular you are against??(as I have observed from your comments on other threads) Most of the products we recommend to each other generally are big makes surely and the beauty of these threads are to comment on our own experience of individual products!!
PS I stand by this product as a huge improvement on previous purchases(usually supermarket own brands) but am open to further advice.0 -

The problem is that if people recommend small brands of items like mattress protectors (of which there are 100's), then people will have trouble finding them. So in my experience, out of retailers that are available in most areas, I would recommend John Lewis for mattress protectors.
As far as bed manufacturers go I would advise against almost all of the big brands, but especially a few who have lowered their quality to an unacceptable level. One this these manufacturers are often clever at is making the mattresses comfortable when they are brand new (although this is often short lived). They are also quite good at making products appear to be good quality, when they aren't. So there are some manufacturers who's products I would never trust.0
