Spotted those over-the-door chrome coat hooks in Selby today too, looked like a great buy for £2.99. They also had matching loo roll holders, towel rings and other things that stick to bathroom tiles with suction cups.

Whoever asked about the Brio train sets I saw the Penguin version at £6.99 in a few Leeds shops last week, but there's no track with that one. I did fine one of the Pony versions at £9.99 last Friday for a birthday present so they are still out there.

To be fair every store has it's share of shoplifters - it's possible that that just happens to be a shop with CCTV. I'm guessing that they need to get police clearance to show those pics on the website so maybe it's a particularly bad repeat offender.
I don't think they are getting permission, I read an article on it and they said something along the lines of "if anyone pictured would like to discuss evidence we hold about them they are welcome".

I spotted a shop lifter in my local HB a few weeks ago, I told a member of staff who went a few aisles over to get her supervisor/manager, he came to see and then I heard him reply he didn't have time to be watching customers, it really annoyed me seen as we all end up paying for shoplifters with higher prices.

To be fair, I've worked in many retail stores and the shop workers are already overburdened and run off their feet anyway - at the end of the day the shop worker's job is to stack the shelves / serve the customers etc, it's management's job to sort the shoplifters out (cctv, security, etc etc), so I can see where that attitude comes from. Retail work is very badly paid so why should they go 'above and beyond'? Plus it's usually not worth the hassle as the shoplifters give you grief for 'following' them (even the known ones, who know we know :rotfl: ). Plus the shop can't do ANYTHING unless a staff member has actually witnessed something being stolen and then the person walk out the door - they can't go up and accuse based on what some random customer says, and they can't do anything til they're actually outside the shop (at which point the thief just legs it anyway).

Sadly the mentality of the British, ain't my job syndrome.

Plus the shoplifter doesn't have to walk out the door, they can just walk past the tills or if they are putting stuff into a large black bag then it is obvious they have no intention to pay. People often wrongly think it is only when they walk out the door something can be done.
It's PAC not PAC Code, it's MAC not MAC Code, it's PIN not PIN Number, it's ATM not ATM Machine, it's LCD not LCD Display, it's DVD not DVD disc... It's no one not noone, It's a lot not alot, It's got not gotten... Panini is the plural of panino - there is no S!!

That may explain the funny looks I get in Aldi with my shopping bag - I put the stuff in it, walk round with it over my arm with the handles wide apart and when I put something in it I tend to "check" to see if its too heavy, then empty it at the till and purposefully scrunch the bag up under my arm to show its empty. Well if they supplied baskets I wouldn't do that would I :rotfl: Daren't get a mini-trolley either as I always end up getting more than I can carry then and they still look at me funny!

Need to get back to old style in modern ways, watching the pennies and getting stuff done!

Yeah, I know someone who has been asked several times in Aldi not to use bags in this way, the shop knows the person, and know they wouldn't on purpose walk out without paying, but they'd rather they didn't.

I either use a box I pick up or just use the trolley as I only get what I want.

I've just had a look at their (Home Bargains) web site and they have started to post photos of people they would like to interview in connection with shoplifting.
    http://www.tjmorris.co.uk/crimebusters.html
According to the info on the link I used to get there, the last woman on the page walked out with all that stuff - over £160 worth
No wonder they are putting cameras in all their shops

I went back to my local store as they had charged me twice for some loo rolls! Anyway the Store manager was able to check back on the cameras over the tills to check I had only bought one! They took my receipt and were able to see which till and what time I was there! I was quite impressed!
