I left the store in a huff because I bought (unopened, in plastic packet) lipsticks for my mum yesterday, who said they were the wrong shade. Threw away the receipt in the torrential rain by mistake.

The manager (I assume) said, Do you have the receipt? I said no, so she said "Health and safety issue, I can't take it back"..surely means "no receipt issue"? So nonsensical I didn't spend another second in the shop.

So the lipsticks were in an unopened plastic packet when you bought them. In order to decide they were not the right shade presumably someone had to open the packet.

The wrong shade doesn't mean there was anything actually wrong with the lipsticks themselves.

There was no need for the manager to ask for a receipt - the hygiene issue is what should mean you couldn't just return them for a refund when there was nothing actually wrong with the lipsticks other than that your mother didn't like the colour.

As well as Poundland, Darlington now has two branches of Poundworld, (one in the Queen St shopping centre).

Poundland had Cilit Bang! grease removing cleaner 500ml, not seen this before but all Cilit Bang! stuff works well.

A super book by broadcaster Roger Tabor, '100 Ways To Understand Your Dog' £12.99 RRP - I would give it five stars. My DGD will enjoy this in the school holidays.

2 Spongebob Squarepants comic books - these are great. Got the second one, bought the first last year for DGS. Also Spongebob plastic tall cups with lid and integral drinking straws.

The Poundworld had Stardrops 500 ml, also in a pine variant. Love this stuff. Bought it to use for washing a few things by hand that I daren't risk in the machine.
Erma Bombeck, American writer: "If I had my life to live over again... I would have burned the pink candle, sculptured like a rose, that melted in storage." Don't keep things 'for best' - that day never comes. Use them and enjoy them now.

No, it was an unopened clear packet http://pennyinafountain.co.uk/wp-content/uploads/2011/10/DSCN20721.jpg, I could see the item, most makeup in Poundland is sold this way.

The lipsticks are retractable sticks in the shade's colour, but it was in a pale-ish pink, yet said "Fiery Red" on a small sticker underneath (I just guessed the colour was the right one and didn't look on the underside). Mum said her favourite is a more vibrant pale pink, so maybe I'm colourblind.

They could be resold. The only thing I could think of is that maybe the manager thought I had them in a drawer for months, without a receipt, but that would be unlikely surely. I bought three, as mum likes them so much and they're getting harder to find.

They're Chit Chat Juicy lipstick (look like the Clinique Chubby Sticks). Really like them as they last well. http://www.poundland.co.uk/images/8247/original/Red-Chit-Chat-Juicy-Lipstic.jpg

Wedding things: car flags, thank you cards 10 pack, invitations 8 pack, 8 save the date cards (?), 20 silver or gold balloons, rose petals (rose colour, white or purple colours), 4 wedding party poppers, foil confetti, paper confetti, 6 organza gift bags.

Also "How To" DVDs, making your own wedding decorations, invitations, etc (in Argyle Street only).

Everything else in the Poundlands in Argyle Street and Trongate except for the ribbons; only in Union Street (if I remember right!).

Managed to get those dastardly pink lipsticks for mum! :)

Got Revlon "Bare It All" Lustrous Lotion as it says on the tube, though it looks like some sort of shimmery foundation. http://www.thecosmetichouse.co.uk/Highlighter/Bare_It_All_Lustrous_Lotion Apparently a highlighter or illuminator for use with foundation or moisturiser.

i bought the air cans last month .. after searching for them all around the store I finally found them on the bottom shelf of the phone/laptop accessories section.
But I went a week later to get more and found they had all gone.

Was told in the new one today that the old shop will be closing in January so the double Poundworlds will be around for a while yet!

I bought some novelty earphones for my daughter today (from Poundland) She was eyeing these up in Asda last week (can't remember how much they were but certainly more than a pound).

    They look like this:http://www.lazyboneuk.com/products/Novelty-Earbuds.html

I bought her the skull ones but they had loads of different girly girl ones. Might make nice stocking fillers for anyone collecting for Christmas now.

I've taken to going in my local at 8.15 just before I start work, and the past few days it really has paid off.

Yesterday I got Mr Kipling mini Victoria sponges (4 per pack) 2 for a £1! The shelf was full in the morning, went back at punch to get more and there weren't any left. They did have a short date, 11th July.
I also saw Lloyds Pharmacy branded body fat analysers. A hand held device that you held and it gives you readings. I reckon you could pay £25. Didn't buy one as I'm pregnant so not much use! Found them on eBay already it was these:
