  • You'll need a screen that has both DVI/DSUB-15 inputs and composit input for use with both a computer, and a PS2. Not the most common of screens, unless you go towards the LCD TV direction, but although they do have DVI/DSUB-15 inputs for connection to computers, the quality isn't always great unless your willing to spend a fair bit of cash.

I had a 21" Toshiba LCD and when connecting to a computer the picture was pretty poor, got rid of that and got a much more expensive Sharp 21" and the picture is a lot better.

Also, from the computer perspective, both a 17" and a 19" TFT have the same native resolution of 1280 x 1024, so just because you have a 19", you wont be fitting more on the screen than a 17", its the same, just larger.

Would I be just as well keeping my 17" crt monitor & buying one of these?

Get a TFT, looks nicer and less clunky. Also for £250 you'll get a very nice one.

Yeah people often go for that model. It's at the budget end of the market. I wouldn't follow the specification too closely. Manufacturers often try to dazzle the user with low response times, and high brightness/contrast ratios which aren't always accurate.

The best way of knowing how good a monitor is, is to read trusted reviews, and to view them for yourself. If looking at tft's yourself, it's often best to sit a few side by side as you'll notice the differences more easily than viewing them individually.
