Mine is set up exactly as that....
when I unplug my wireless adsl router and ethernet and plug back in my adsl modem and usb connector it works, when i go ethernet-new router it doesn,t... get the following error...
The server responded with an error. Account: 'pop.onetel.net', Server: 'pop.onetel.net', Protocol: POP3, Server Response: '-ERR AVG POP3 Proxy Server: Cannot connect to the mail server!', Port: 110, Secure(SSL): No, Server Error: 0x800CCC90, Error Number: 0x800CCC90
Everything else about my internet and what i access works a treat

try this: How to deal with error...0

It's your AVG anti-virus e-mail scanner that's causing the problem.
Go to avg email scanner properties. In the Personal email scanner plugin - click the properties button to take you to the setup page. There is a Network Connection box which probably has your old dial up listed. Change it to LAN.
