Not sure if this is right forum ?
In November last year, my Gran sadly died.
My Mother already was executor over her finances and has dealt with the solicitor re her will.
My sister and myself are also named beneficiaries, however at no stage has the solicitor contacted us, is this right ? surely the solicitor should advise all beneficiaries, formally ??
Also is it normal to take this long to sort, the solicitor has told my mother that the delay is due to work and pensions dept being very slow and querying everything ?

When I was executor for my aunt's will I informed all the other beneficiaries of the financial situation and dealt with the estate. That's what an executor does. Why is there a solicitor involved in this and why isn't your mother keeping in touch with you regarding what's happening?0

If a solicitor is involved, I would expect him to contact you when the finances are sorted to let you know what you can expect to receive. Probabe does take some time however I would think your mother needs to keep on at the solicitor or they will just let it run along slowly - more so if there isn't a lot of money involved.0
