It was (and is) valid on any 3 consecutive days.
Did you really mean to put loose?
Lose: no longer possess, not to retain, unable to find
Loose: not firmly or tightly fixed in place

The 3 day travelcard is a bit of a strange one, it is only available for Zones 1-2 at peak rate fares, or Z 1-6 as both peak and off-peak. Most of the time 3 seperate day cards work out cheaper, unless you need to travel during the morning peak times or are venturing beyond Zone 4. Even if you do need those options it only saves £2 over the 3 days so not the best deal around.

I work in the industry (for a small company now, so don't get any staff rates any more) - I am my family when they visit only use paper tickets. That should tell you something.

To try and give you more information - are you likely to be doing much travelling before 09:30? Where are you coming from, and have you booked your ticket to London (if not, there may be a saving). Do you plan for your london travel to mainly be central?

It doesn't tell anyone anything apart from their personal preference.
