Combining debts

Hi,

Hope i'm in the right forum for this question.

We have got ourselves in a big of a pickle with the credit card and overdraft. We owe nearly £3000 on the credit card and are forever living within the overdraft limit of £950. The bank has suggested to us that we take out a loan and pay off both and then only have to pay back that each month instead of all the interest we are paying now. We not really getting anywhere with the credit card - just paying off the minium each month. Would this be a good idea? Any ideas would be great. Many thanks in advance
