Where can I buy some nice wardrobe doors?

Hello,

We're after some new wardrobes for our new house, and I found these which have nice modern doors.

However, I thought instead of paying the £159 they want for each chasis, I could buy some Ikea Pax chasis for £50 and fit some nice doors to it.

Does anyone know of anywhere selling wardrobe doors at a decent price?

I've found plenty of sites that all appear different but have the exact same stock, like this one: http://www.doors-sincerely.co.uk/wardrobe-doors.htm

But they are really expensive, and would cost me £600 for 4 doors!

Does anywhere know of anywhere else I shold try?

Thansk

Pete

  • I am in the same situation, we bought the shell from Ikea for our wardrobes because we have had to cut it around a traingular box that is in the corner of the room where the wardrobes need to go (caused by the stairs being underneath that part of the bedroom.

We managed to build / cut / design the wardrobe cases to fit, but now need to find the doors.. I'll post on here if I find anywhere decent at good money.

Pete - Those shiny black ones are lovely. However, they look very similar Ikea's high gloss kitchen cabinets. I know they do red and white, not sure about black. Have you looked at Ikea's kitchen dept, or other kitchen suppliers?

AVFC - how much have you taken off your carcass? I have had to cut a Pax carcass to size due to a sloping roof, but we managed to get the same Pax doors, by choosing the short wardrobe door that goes over the two drawers, cutting the space for the drawers out, & just fitting the door. IIRC, 2 drawers are 35cm, so that cupboard is 166cm

Thanks sooz, I'll take a look at kitchen doors but I suspect it'll be nigh-on impossible to get them in the right size. I was hoping at 100cm wide the Pax would be a fairly standard wardrobe size.
  • Hi PeteW - Have you tried https://www.spaceslide.co.uk or somewhere like B&Q?
  • Hello

We operate a small friendly family business supplying made to measure and set sized kitchen and bedroom doors including matching carcasses.

Take a look at our website http://www.basicallydoors.co.uk

Hope thats of interest as it may give you some ideas...goodluck !

Yeah that's the same stock list as all the other clones (franchises??) have, as mentioned earlier. Though amazingly your site doesn't seem to have any prices!! But I presume they are as extortionate as the other identical sites.

    Hey,
If you want some expensive looking ones, it is worth making them from MDF and then taking the doors to your local spray shop, any crash repair garage should do this for you. This way you get the colour and finish you want at a fraction of the cost!

  • pooke , my Dad suggested I do this with my fitted wardrobe doors as they are very old fashioned with beading on . I thought I could knock the beading of , get them resprayed with high gloss and put new handles on. Much cheaper and less messy than ripping out all the old ones.
( i dont think i could get all my boots/tesco stash in ordinary cupboards)
Have you seen any one with doors thats had this done ? or like my Dad is it lateral thinking?
