No fair!! Not allowed Amazon credit card

Options
Despite having a great credit score etc. the people at the Halifax (who are behind the Amazon card) have deemed my "...current facility is appropriate..." and are "...therefore unable to approve the new application...".

I wouldn't care but I haven't even asked for a balance transfer or anything!!! Just wanted £15 off Amazon!!!

They'll be kicking themselves cos' I've just moved everything out of their poxy card anyway!!!

Anyway my point is, if you have a Halifax card already don't expect to get this one too.

  • It sounds perfectly logical to me.
The Halifax have already given you a credit card with what they consider to be a limit appropriate to your circumstances.
In their wisom they have decided not to lend you additional money albeit on another card from their stable.
You are disgruntled and evidently will take your custom elsewhere.
    Fair enough all round.

I have a Halifax 1 card and have just been accepted for an Amazon card. Perhaps it's because you have too much card debt. That's the only reason I've ever been declined.

No, it is based on the amount of credit available to you rather than the amount of debt you have. I got the Amazon card but was then refused the IF card and got the same letter as the OP.

How do you know you have a good credit score? Each provider uses different criteria and will score differently. Even different branded cards with the same provider can have different criteria and score differently.
  • I did the same just wanted the £15 from amazon, however I got the card but not the £15 voucher. As if by magic the 1500 points (to qualify for the £15 voucher) were added this month and then redeemed-deducted by whom?! who knows?? Anyone know the magic formula to contact amazon? ps tried https://www.amazon.co.uk/contact-us, oh dear the site is unavailable!!!!! I'm begining to think it wasn't worth the effort. I should have posted this sooner 'cos the voucher turned up 2 mins ago yipee
