Buying from Motorpoint questions
Found a car on the motorpoint website which seems pretty decent, under 7k miles and price is lower than the p-ex price given in parker's guide.
So, some questions if anyone can help please.
a) Is there any negotiation with them on price or do you have to accept what they're selling it for?
b) As the car is an 07 plate, with last service in Feb this year, should it be in pretty good nick?
c) Car is being transported to Newport for me from Glasgow, so will incur transport costs of £150 if we go ahead with the purchase. Has anyone ever paid their £300 deposit before seeing the car then had to ask for it back due to car not being up to standard?
Have never bought 2nd hand before (usually get good friends & family discount off Vauxhall through fatherinlaw) so not really sure of the pitfalls!

Always try to haggle and think of a price that is the most you will pay (don't let them tell you)

It should be and they usually give a decent warranty too, also check if it was a "major service"

I'd check the small print on what their policy is on that mate, they may just try and load it off onto you with no chance to reject it. It's trickt is that because you can't really say "well it never had than mark on it when I paid my deposit"Last Win: Tuff Mudder Tickets and 2 cases of wine :j0 -
Bear in mind that you may well be the 3rd registered keeper and that the car may not be to UK specs, nor have the same manufacturers warranty.
Beware of any " add-on's " that they may try to squeeze on to you.;)
Personally I wouldn't pay them to move their own car from branch to branch, nor would I buy a used car that I had not seen but that is entirely your decision..;)0 -

Have already managed to remove the GAP insurance pack they were trying to foist on me, but they won't move the car to my local branch without the deposit showing intent to buy...and no way was I going to Glasgow to see it:rolleyes: . Deposit is refundable according to their website and literature, if not happy with it on viewing, but I don't know how tricky that would be in practice. Website doesn't feature an actual picture or description other than list the spec and any extras.
Have been told it's a UK car rather than import, but they won't tell me any other history "without delving deeper into the system" (? like that's a problem?) but that it was "probably bought at auction". They then whack a fee for Europlates of £25 into the price.0
