Isn't it only £30 to file a claim, and the loser pays costs? My TV is broken!

Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
I would send one more letter, again recorded delivery, citing they have 7 more days to pay you the money owed or return the camera, and in the mean time you will be starting court proceedings. Make sure you re-write new days and the amount again.
It might also be an idea to point out that if this goes to court, not only will they have to pay for the camera, they'll also have to pay for all the court costs and court fees, so it is in their best interest to pay for the camera now.Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Seeing as she's had the letter, I would follow it up with the claim, she has had plenty of warning and frankly I think her behaviour is disgusting!
I'd also write her off as a 'friend'

We dont count all the runners ahead of us & feel intimidated.
Instead we look back proudly at our journey, our personal struggle & determination & remember that there are those that never even attempt to reach the starting line.0 -
the money clain online is the courts offical system btw, not a claims4u type service.

The only experience I had of the small claims court was a wash-out. It ended up costing me even more because the person at the receiving end just ignored it. The bailiffs went round twice and she didn't answer the door so they didn't go again.
It would have cost snother £50 or so to persue it further, and it all seemed like throwing good money after bad - a total waste of time and money IMO.
If you know a big, burley bloke, send him round to look threatening - it may frighten her into returning the camera!I let my mind wander and it never came back!0 -
I have used moneyclaim online in the past and found it useful. I took a shop to court because they sold me a ski jacket and the belt buckle broke when I first wore it on the slopes. The shop refused to deal with me and made all sorts of promises but did not deliver so I warned them that I was taking them to court, I was ignored. Into the small claims it went courtesy of moneyclaim online - I claimed for the cost of submitting the case, the cost of the jacket and my costs for ringing and writing. I was successful and when the woman failed to collect the jacket from my home, I ended up with the jacket as well (well, there was no way that I was going to incur further cost in sending it back to her and the court advised me that she should make arrangements to collect it and if she failed to do so then she would forfeit the jacket).
Take the so-called friend to the small claims court - why should you or your business be out of pocket because of her theft?0 -

You're welcome! I've used it only once - very successfully - against an organisation but was unsure as to whether the OP could use it. Thanks for the clarification.LBM: August 2006 £12,568.49 - DFD 22nd March 2012
