Cleaning a stained mattress

Hi,
Not sure if this is the right board to post to, apologise if it isn't.
On top of my regular mattress I have a mattress cover which is like another mattress anyway, it cost £100 from IKEA and is really comfortable and I don't want to get rid of it.
The problem I have with it is in the middle there are a few stains (sweat, bodily fluids, dried blood etc)
and when I take my duvet covers off there is a slight pong to it.
What I should have done when I bought it was to buy a mattress cover for the mattress cover but one where I could pop it in the washing machine, but thats been wise after the event
Is there anyway I can clean it? Is there somewhere I could take it to get it cleaned?
Thanks!

It sounds like what you bought was a mattress pad. Ikea sell these to give a sort of module system to their mattresses. This means for example that you can buy a pocket sprung unit, and then choose which mattress pad you want on top of it.
It may be possible to get it steam cleaned, but I'd check with Ikea first. Personally I'd replace it as Ikea mattresses aren't very good quality anyway, and it might not cost much more than getting it cleaned.
Whatever you decide to do, you should buy yourself a mattress protector to prevent this happening again. The breathable waterproof ones are best. They feel like fabric (not plastic), and have a gortex type membrane on the back.0
