AMEX help

Can someone help me work out what's going on with my balance please.

I have a £3,000.00 credit limit and I spent £3,000.00 exactly on Friday morning. It is showing my available credit as -£16.00  . Does anyone know why this could be? I have checked and it is fine to spend the exact amount of your credit limit and it wasn't for a balance transfer, it was a normal purchase so it isn't fees.

Thanks

I would suggest calling the number on the back of your AMEX card.
They are a UK call center and have been pretty helpful.

Could this be Payment protection insurance?
We can only really speculate on a few possibilities, so you really need to call them, or sign up on-line to check transactions.

Does this card carry a fee at all?

No fee according to the website. I've tried phoning them but they don't know what it is!

Could the merchant have charged you extra for using the card?

They shouldn't have done. Well I hope they didn't as they didn't inform me when I was purchasing at the counter. It was for my train season ticket (£3,000.00) which I pay for every year by credit card. I tried AMEX by phone again tonight but they still don't know what it is for!

One where you live in town not that far from London but where First Capital Connect are the only train operators so can charge their rip-off fares as people have no other option. The season ticket fare including underground/bus ticket is £4,100.00!

Think about it - its not that much.

£3000 for a year of travel. Say you work 40 weeks or the year, this is 200 days, so £15 per day.

Thats cheap for train fares into London. I've paid £200 for one return journey before now.
