Is coventry on the "permitted route"?

Ive just bought a return ticket from London st pancras to leicester
I was wondering that if on the return journey id be able tobreak my journey in Coventry then use the same ticket to get back to london.

Coventry isnt on the list of stations i stop at on the first leg of the journey by the way and I dont know how to use the check the "PR" on the website.

Nope - there is only one permitted route between Leicester and London and that is the direct line which doesn't go anywhere near Coventry.

I agree with dzug1 - it would be like going from Nottingham to London via Skegness!

It's definately not valid. If you tried to get to Coventry from Leicester, the guard would ask you to buy a Standard Open Single from Leicester to Nuneaton, and more than likely ask you to leave the train there as well. You would then have to buy a new ticket to get to London.

Off the top of my head - a Hinckley - London saver ticket would be valid either via
Leicester or via WCML - though I'd have to check, and I'd also want to check whether Hinckley-Nuneaton-Coventry-Rugby-London is permissible.
