    Wow - that really sucks ;) (all of the above)
    As mojo runs in apache I doubt it'll tell you much anyway.

    Roughly how many people does it go to?

    You'd be surprised, once the forums were modded the load average jumped down from 25 to round the 2 range :)

    Btw, we send out to approximately 147,500 email addresses, so you can imagine it'd take a bit of time :)

    So at the moment that's 7.5Gb a go. So this would load up your throttled bandwidth nicely.

    Actually not really - the main site, the chat forum and the mail server are all seperate servers with their own distinct bandwidths, so on that one thing we should be fine :)

  • Sounds like you need to sort out the software and template then.

    Though dumping 7+Gb in a mailqueue is going to take a while to deliver on any throttled connection.

    I guess speed is critical, so is there a good reason not to host the list in the USA on their bargain bandwidth?

    Assuming you don't:
    * Use fraudulent or deceptive subject lines, headers, return addresses, etc.
    * Use e-mail addresses that have been harvested from websites.
    * Send sexually-oriented e-mails without clear markings.
    * Have an non working unsubscribe system
    * Have a problem putting your postal mailing address in the message.

    ;)

    To be honest we're looking at good reputable outsourcing solutions.

    To take the load off the server and to offer us some better take a managed software solution also seems to be the winner. It's a balance of internal resources and cost.
