Trying to start to think about OH's birthday in October, 50th. Had a quick word with his DS last week and apparently OH's Dad wants to arrange a surprise 'something' but nothing else known, so will hold off arranging anything for on his birthday until I know more. I was thinking of a few days away at the end of October perhaps.
    Oktoberfest? :D I LOVE Munich. :)

    good idea!!! However - I don't drink beer :(

Because I'll be teaching on a Tuesday evening, it kind of puts a bit of a spoke inthe wheel. I can do any dates between 23/10 - 3/11 which is just before and during half term but the flight prices are a bit mad then from both Bournemouth and Southampton.

Oddly it's cheaper to get to and from southampton even though it's further. It's about £10 on the train and the airport has its own station. Bournemouth has no buses from Poole, no train service and a tax is £20 each way. Parking is £8.50 a day so it's really dear in a way to get to the airport even though it's only 15 drive!

I've found flights for 0.00 each way to Girona but the taxes make it £75 in total - still not bad though! That would be 5 nights, 23-28 Oct. We've 'done' Girona, and hotels aren't cheap but we could go down the coast to Malgrat again. I've found an all inclusive on the beach for £200 between us. £136 each for 5 nights all inclusive, but as I'd be paying for his half for his birthday present I need to keep looking ! Malgrat is just a long stretch of beach and bars but there is an excellent train service that does Lloret/Tossa one way and all the beaches into Barcelona the other and it's about £2.50 to get to Barcelona.

Weird. Some flights are 0.00 plus £50 taxes, some are 0.00 plus £25 taxes!

    strokey strokey daphne.......

don't worry hun, you'll be fine, you've done your theory so some say that is the hardest part and is very hit and miss... if your instructor thinks you are ready then you will be great... yoga/rescue remedy on the day to quell your nerves as those are the things that will let you down...

The way i used to think about it was, if all these people out there can do it, <pointing out the window to road outside> then i can do it, as i'm smarter than half of them.... you need to think the same babes!

Think of the thickest person you know who has a licence, visualise them and know that you are smarter than them!!!!!!!!! so therefore you can drive too!!!

    Thanks Maz :grouphug:

I have some rescue remedy, OH got it before his test a couple of weeks ago.

Jade Goody has a driving license - I often think of her when I am reversing around a corner! If she can do it then my word I can.

There are 18 test routes, 9 of them have this horrendous roundabout on - 4 of them have the most awkward route around the roundabout - if I get that then I might **** it up but otherwise! I should be okay.

how weird - clean hob is on 'extra mission' - I'd have thought that would be a level 1/everyday kind of job?

I thought that too, but still it means I can give it a quick flick over later when I have done the dinner and cross it off my list.....:rotfl:

So I can get on with the real job of cleaning the mankiest cupboard and scrubbing the fridge:mad:
