I've been getting lost in Wales over the weekend (found the place eventually though) so I've been considering getting a sat nav and have just seen this on Halfords website seems like a bargain

Though some reviews come back a bit negative and the general impression is that Garmin are a better model does anybody have any experience of the two (Garmin one below) though Garmin are a bit more expensive around £90
I don't need one daily but for occasional long trips around the UK it would be useful.

Well as far as I am aware the Route 66 ones are not made by Tom Tom.
I have a Garmin Nuvi 250 which is the same as the 200 but includes European maps. I've been happy with it. Like all Sat navs though you need to keep your wits about you as occassionally they come up with some slightly odd route decisions. It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die0 -
Hi, no TomTom is a separate company. If you just want a cheap satnav to get you from A to B it will certainly do the job and for a knockdown price. More expensive TomTom units tend to have longer battery life (only 2 hours quoted for this one) and more frequent/wider range of map updates to purchase. I have an older TomTom 510 which though a bit bulky does the job well and was even able to get maps of South East USA and use on a holiday to Florida last year. Was a great asset.0
