yes once you get a credit card you will be able to transfer his debt on to your card, they don't refuse because the debt's not in your name.

I am trying to do the exact same thing atm but for my mum! You can def transfer your son's debt to your CC (but be careful he actually makes the repayments to you!!)

    Hi there,

Yes you can. I have had to do the same with my OH and he owes 4.5k on 2 credit cards and has such a bad credit score it seemed the only way out! I went with Virgin who offer 0% on Balance Transfers for 15 months with a 2.98% which seems liked a good idea. They only gave a 1k limit though but every little helps!! You can Balance Transfer 95% of your credit limit. Another company that seems to have a good offer is Barclaycard, which I think is 0% on Balance Transfers for 13 months. Again, with Natwest. But you cannot transfer the debt to a new credit card from the same company, i.e- Natwest to Natwest, Barclays to Barclays etc

Hope that helped a little! Can I also suggest setting up a standing order from his bank account to yours monthly so that you know the money is always there and ready to be paid

    Gud luck x
