Legal Fees - can i put on my house?

Hi, I am going to court on Thursday for contact/residence issues. I have to pay for my own court costs, but it seems to have been going on for ages and costing a bomb. I wondered, in order to let our hair down a bit again. Is it possible to have a statutory charge put on our house or something, by the solictors or do we have to take out another mortagage? I had legal aid a few years ago, and they just put a charge on my property and I paid it off when I had the money (all in one go) should this be an option to us now?

Thanks

Suzanne.

If you don't have legal aid, then you have to pay the solicitors bill, just the same as if you had a plumber's bill or some other bill. The only way you can 'put it on the house' is if you re-mortgage and use the extra to pay the bill, which depends on you having sufficient equity and income.

Some solicitors will allow you to pay in installments, so it might be worth discussing that with them.
I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.
