Help - Someone has just stolen My Nectar Points!

I have just logged in to my nectar account where I have slowely built up 30,000 points over the last few years to find my balance as of yesterday down to 10k so I suspect the rest have been spent today..

I can see there has been a mini shoppingspree over the last 2 days in argos and Sainburys somewhere across the land..!

I still have the card in my posession so unless this is a mega mega old card someone has got their hands on I have no idea, could it have been cloned...

Has anyone else has this happen? I just tried to call nectar but they are closed until 8am tomorrow when I will be on the phone first thing to see what they can do to help!

Arghhh I am so livid! I was trying to save them for a really nice treat so I hope I get them back!

Do you have a partner card? A key fob?

Where was your card used? Same town?
  • Yes I have all the cards and key fobs, my other half has a partner card with him but its not him because he has been with me for the last few days! Unfortunately it doesn't tell me the area the points were used in only the store name but I am sure they can tell me that when I call them in the morning!

It will say which card number spent the points so you can see whether it was your card or the partner card number.

The points were spent using my number, I can see a list of the 8 transactions, the store name (not Branch), the amounts etc.

I still have the card, the fobs everything!! I have 1 partner card which funnily enough my partner still has here in the house and it is most definately not him either!

I called nectar today, not overly helpful other than cancelling my current card and advised me to contact the stores directly..which both happen to be on the same street in London a mere 100 miles from me!

Spoke to Sainsburys today, they are going to send a team of investigators in and get back to me within 24 hours.. so lets wait and see.

Argos - Spoke to a customer service line which was rubbish  , I was advised to go into the store which is physically impossible..., I contacted the branch directly and am waiting a call back from the store manager.. I spent nearly an hour again tonight between 5.30 and 6.30 (when they close) trying to get through to no avail.. I will start the argos campaign again tomorrow!

I have just called the met police and they advised to continue hounding the stores directly as the crime is technically against the store and not me! The stores should investigate it themselves and then report to the police if required! I only need to report it if Sainsburys advise me to.

I know that years ago my dad had his nectar card stolen (someone was stupidly still using his card, with all his details, name, address etc) and they had built up lots of points on this card, my dad then realised months after that he had his card stolen, called Nectar and all he had to do was give them his details and they transferred these points all over to a new card which they then sent out to dad. Could it be that someone else has you Nectar card number, address details etc and could have claimed that they have lost the card and that 'you' have a new address? Or have you changed address recently? As they may be getting the correspondance and offers from Nectar direct to their door?

When i was on holiday in another town not long ago, i tried to redeem some points on my shopping and was told i wasnt allowed, as the treats can only be redeemed in your normal store.

Did they redeem any in a Sainsbury's at all? If so, they have either changed your local store somehow or Sainsbury's haven't adhered to there own rules to protect you.

Now that's a very interesting point! I did set a home store years ago and have never changed it! The points were spent in London so most definately not my home store so I will look into that!

Nope ruled all that out, I get all the correspondance to my house and prior to that it went to my parents..! This is why it is sooo bizarre!
  • Also, have you ever put your Nectar card number on any website? Remember you used to be able to get points from Debenhams now all kinds of retailers give them. Gala Bingo do as do certain restaurant chains.

The only other way I can think that they've been stolen is through your online account, assuming you registered your card, but then you say that they've actually been redeemed in store.
    Life's what you make it....

Life beyond voluntary work scares me, but what else is there?
