reclaiming credit card spend (not just penalties & charges)

Hi All,
A mate of mine was telling me earlier about a chap he met recently who told him that, due to some 'loophole' in the T& Cs of any credit cards issued prior to April 07, it is possible to persuade the credit card company to write off any balances owing without any adverse effect on your credit worthiness.

I am aware of claiming back any unfair penalty charges that credit cards have been charging but this is a new one on me. Any one else heard of this or have any experience or know what the T & Cs pre April 07 this might refer to?

TIA
