Enabling security on home wireless network

Just set up a home wireless network between a belkin 54g modem/router and a dell laptop with a wireless card. However I am a bit puzzled how to set up the security on this network so that only my laptop can access it.
Anyone got any suggestions or links to help me, the manual with the router is vague to say the least, as you can no doubt guess I am not an expert so be gentle with the jargon
Thanks
