How likely am I to get a CC?

I'm 18 in a few months and would like to get a CC so I can build up a credit rating and get some of the rewards (Such as airmiles etc).

My question is, how likely am I to get a credit card in my current state (When I apply)...

18
Full time education
Part time work
4k/5k year

Also, another question is, I only earn 4k a year, however my account has around 1k a month come out and go in, due to buying/selling on eBay and other things, so say I was applying for a CC with my own bank, would this effect their decision or not?.

Thank You to anyone that takes time to reply. :)

Income is a factor in assessing an applicant for Credit.

I think you can safely add your income from ebay to your part time earnings. This is not telling untruths, and with this level if income you should stand a good chance of being accepted.

As BethanyRayne has said a good starting point will be your own bank and they can see for themselves the income going into your account.

    Good Luck.

The bank you have your student bank account with might give you a student credit card.

Or a sub prime one type maybe? If you will be clearing the balance in full each month anyway

You could try applying for one with your bank now if you do have that much money going through your account. But wait until you are a few months past your bday.

I think you have an excellent chance with your own bank. Any money you earn on Ebay can also be counted as income.

You may also like to try for a "Young Persons Loan at ZOPA. I have included this link if you apply and get accepted we both get £30 http://uk.zopa.com/member/bethanyrayne
I have stated this is a referral link and we both get £30

This is the non referral link https://uk.zopa.com/ZopaWeb/
Does this mean I can become a lender? What is the minimum stake to play?

If you're buying and selling on ebay to that value I assume you're doing it to make a profit, in which case regardless of how small it is I hope you're registered with HMRC for tax payments. I'm only mentioning it because even though with your low normal earnings the profits might still be below your tax allowance I still think it needs to be declared to avoid you getting fined. (I would ask about it in the 'upping your income' section of the boards as they know more about it than me)
