Cashing a cheque from a LTSB collection account

Hi,
I've got a cheque here from my pet insurance company which is drawn on one of Lloyds TSB's suspense accounts (sort code 30-00-02) and is headed Lloyds TSB Bank plc - basically, not a personal cheque and extremely unlikely to bounce. Would it be possible to simply walk into my local branch of Lloyds and get this cheque cashed over the counter instantly if I presented some ID? LTSB phone banking were very unclear on this and simply suggested that I pay it into my account.
Thanks in advance...

Highly unlikely if it's payee line is other than 'cash' .... which it won't be. You need to pay it in I'm afraid. If you want to test the depth of the water .........don't use both feet !0

Not even if I took in some ID? :S If worst comes to worst I will just pay it into my account, but it's a bit of a nuisance...0

i think all cheques need to be paid into an a/c nowadays.Long time away from MSE, been dealing real life stuff..
Sometimes seen lurking on the compers forum :-)0 -
If it is account payee then it has to go through an account in the name on the cheque. I have often been asked about whether a cheque in joint names can be signed over to one or other of the parties....it can't because it is account payee.0

Unless Lloyds TSB have an open credit arrangement on that account then it's a NO I'm afraid!
Place into into your current account ASAP-3-6 days and you're sorted. (Timescale depending on your bank)!Loan-£3600 only 24 months of payments to go!!!
All debt consolodated and cards destroyed!!
As D'Ream would sing 'Things.....can only get better'!!!0 -
It's a definite no no.
You will have to pay it in to an account in your name.
If you have a LTSB account you will still have to wait for it to clear - it will not be instant.0 -

Is it crossed? It will have two vertical lines down the middle meaning that it can only be paid into an account.
I would guess that it's not a suspense account cheque, companies cheques will be drawn on a account at a bank and can be stopped etc just like any other. They are much less likely to bounce for lack for funds, but still can. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
