I am currently looking at buying a house and the person who lived there before was disabled. so the house needs alot of work. for e.g. theres a stair lift, lift in the living room to the bedroom and also needs a new bathroom fitting.
she is asking £100k for the house just wondered if you think this will effect the value-ation.

So offer what you could sell the house for when the adaptations taken out, less the cost of taking them out..... Surely it would be better to buy somewhere else and let this be bought by someone who needs these facilities - they're very expensive to install. If you are querying your Council Tax band would you please state whether you are in England, Scotland or Wales0

But that wouldn't satisfy the human need to make a profit at the expense of another welfare.Bankruptcy isn't the worst that can happen to you. The worst that can happen is your forced to live the rest of your life in abject poverty trying to repay the debts.0 -
I see what you intend doing and understand that we all need to secure our own place and this is usually at the expense of the seller.
However I wonder if the local authority may want to take the equipment of your hands to use for thebenefit of someone else as a through floor lift costs in the region of £12000 and a stairlift £3000 so its alot to pull out and dispose of in order to get the dream home for yourself.0 -
It won't devalue the property, in fact could increase it for some slightly albeit a pretty niche market.
You'll be able to sell the stuff and I'm sure the money will cover the remedial work. Otherwise you make the vendors take it out, take the profit, sort out a few holes and get a better price from you
Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.

A stair lift could come in useful for when you come back from the pub p*ssed and can't walk up the stairs."You were only supposed to blow the bl**dy doors off!!"0
