HP Scan Jet 3300C

:mad: I have just installed this HP Scan Jet 3300C scanner on my Dell laptop running on windows XP. Everytime I go to scan something I am getting the following message -
"An undefined program error has occurred. [2117]"

and the scan wont even start. Please can someone advise how I can resolve this. Thanks.

I used the suggestions on the website and I was able to scan a picture once. I have now tried to scan another picture and I am getting the same error message again.

I am wondering if the scanner may have difficulty running on XP. The scanner was purchased brand new in 2000 and worked fine on my old machine running windows 98se. The hp site has a link for a patch to download for XP running systems. When I click the link it takes me to another page on the hp site saying the link is broken.

Does anyone have any ideas?
