I have an adorable 6 month old pup, who has just started barking at everybody and everything. We took him out the other day and he ran up to complete strangers and started barking at them. I was really cross as I hate it when other peoples dogs do that to me. Once he starts now he just doesnt stop. I take him out for a wee in the back garden before I go to bed and he starts barking, I'm worried the neighbours are going to say something soon. He has loads of excercise and cuddles. I need to find out how to train him when to bark and when not to. Hes driving me mad, please help!!!

mine is just the same, isnt it the brat stage, and time to re-inforce the standing in the house, or maybe he's just protecting you by telling the world he looks out for youLife is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0

I love the fact he is protective and glad he lets me know when there is a stranger about, but he's got to learn when is acceptable behaviour and when its not and when to stop!! I dont know where to start, I dont want to tell him off for informing me, just to let him know ok thanks but now shut up!!!0

I know what you mean, i tell mine to stop being silly, although he is in the dog house (haha) at the mo, went out for a few hours this afternoon and he has in the past been very good, but the last 2 times we have popped out he has started to destroy my sofa, and it looked liked i was burgled when we got back today, but no it was the pup.
he was lots of chew toys several kongs, and this is his 'brat' stage?
roll on Monday he's off to the vet for the snip, so we will have a few quiet days whilst he gets over the anasetic, i know this is not going to stop his behaviour, but right now he is led down next to me in his cage until he can learn to enjoy privilages of being with the family, he certainly will not be sleeping on my bed tonight.Life is about give and take, if you can't give why should you take?0 -
If you don't want him to bark, you've got to reward him for not barking. Getting cross will only show him that you too are stressed in that situation and may make him worse. Please forgive me if my comments seem abrupt or my questions have obvious answers, I have a mental health condition which affects my ability to see things as others might.0
