Halifax cc Late Fee - Please help

I have been charged by the Halifax a £25 late fee for being 1 day late. After much "discussion" with the customer service advisor, and even threatening to cancel the card, all I managed to get was 50% waived off the late fee.
I am not blaming anyone else for me being late with the payment, but has anyone managed to get this fee waived completely. This is my first "offence" since I got the card earlier this year.

Stick to your guns.
Tell either cancel the charge or cancel the card.
They`re making a fortune from CC`s anyway.0 -
......have a look here, high sucess rate with current accounts, don't know about credit cards
good luck0 -
Only managed 50% off for late payment on CC, they did waive current account fees no bother. Must be the standard offer to customers0

I will cancel card once I have paid up, unless they refund the £12.50. There are plenty of other companies who will want my business. I am fortunate not to have a current account with them.0

In you own admission you admit you were late but because the company will not bow to your blackmail demands you are threatening to close the account.
Why should they refund anything. You were the one who broke the Terms and conditions. I would sum this up as saying "its a fair cop guv".0 -
I agree with CTT I'm afraid, it's not their fault you were late with your payment. I can understand that it was a mistake but I wouldn't cancel the card over it.Mortgage-free wannabe!0

Have to agree with CTT there. All those other companies that want your business will to exactly the same thing if you are late paying. I have found that building up a long standing financial relationship with a company gets me more results when there are problems than I would expect by just flitting around never being a loyal customer.0

I have 2 other cards .. Barclaycard let me off on the first and only occassion I was late. Lloyds never charged me any late fees ever ... got that in 1988, so I dont know if that was ever in the T&C. So I will not be missing the Halifax card by cancelling it anyway.0

So because you did not comply with the terms and conditions you think it is the Halifax's fault. However it would appear from your last post you are not a new comer to paying late. I feel that Halifax were very generous in offering you a discount and you repay them by behaving in a very childish manner.
I'm sure the Halifax will miss you as customer as you will miss them!0 -
A year or two ago I was late paying one of my MasterCards. There had been a postal strike and only when going through my papers at the end of the month I noticed a bill missing. I rang and yes, I was late. I made my apologies and asked if there was a late fee. He said yes and I asked if it was possible to waive it under the circumstances. Never been late before with this or any other payment. They agreed.
Last month, I was a day late for my MBNA card and this month's statement shows a late fee, which I will pay. The lesson is learnt, and now there is a note in my diary on the appropriate days of the month for me to pay my cards.
I pay my balances in full each month, so I expect they ain't making much money from me anyway.Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.0
