Bank Charges

Ive just been charged £35 by halifax for a failed direct debit the DD was worth £4.75 the problem is that i cant afford the £35 fee as i am on benefits (ie income support). I thought i left the money in my account but i forgot that i used my card a couple of days before. Is there any way around this?????

Is this the first time you have had a charge from them? If so it is worth calling into the branch or giving them a call. They will usually refund it as a gesture of goodwill.
  • no its not the first one ive had they charged me one for october last year but i managed to get that one cancelled after alot of phone calls and nagging was just wondering if it would work this time around???????
