when I need to complete my address details on line for a purchase or to register for something, i only type in the first couple of letters and my computer provides a drop down list with everything this could match with previous entries I have made. I want to stop this as it means, in theory, that if someone else used my computer or hacked into it, they could obtain the details (I think, I am a technophobe). anyway, can I set my computer up so that it remembers nowt?

In Internet Explorer 7, go to the Tools menu, Internet Options, Content tab, and click the Settings button in the AutoComplete section, then un-tick "Forms" and "Usernames and passwords on forms".
There's also a program called CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) which you could use. It just deletes all the temporary information in your web browser amongst other things. It's very easy to use - you just tick what you want to delete, and it does its job.0 -
