Champagne on ice....about time.

Mind you it was a Western Union scam ...........fools and their money spring to mind!!0 -
This news item has more information that meets the eye at a first glance. There is the fact that the 'buyers' fell for two different scams, firstly buying through a non ebay 2nd chance offer and secondly using Western Union. However what is almost more interesting is the comment by ebay as follows:
"In fact, eBay.com in the U.S. has banned payment via Western Union and eBay.co.uk will soon be following suit."
There have been a couple of threads on this forum recently, one started by me, about changes to the ebay payment methods in the US. That statement does appear to suggest that ebay.co.uk might be following the US lead in banning all online payment methods apart from paypal..so maybe in the new Year we can expect some announcement from ebay uk about 'allowable' payment methods.
Although since ebay already warn against using Western Union I don't really see how banning it all together will help, as I think gullible buyers will still use it especially if they deal 'off ebay'.
It is good to see though that some of these scammers are finally ending up where they ought to be, in jail.
