  • Depend's on the PC's best bet is to buy a cross over ethernet cable. I'm fairly sure you can't network PC's via USB (not 100%)

That's for file transfers, not Networking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

And eBay has a good selection of crossover cables - and they will be custom built for you, sold by the meter! (Most sellers anyways!)

Who said he wanted to do networking? The OP was asking for a PC-PC link, which is exactly what the USB unit does. Incidentally, it comes with software to share an internet connection so if you've e.g. got an older PC with no ethernet card and still rely on a USB DSL modem (yuk) it'll also do the job for that.

I picked up one of these from the QVC shop last week, admittedly only paying £6. Does what it says on the box. Have been using it as a point to point backup from my work PC onto my home PC, given the latter's got a good size hard drive & DVD-writer, work PC's only got a CD-writer hence needs 6 CDs to backup my data. All my attempts at getting FTP to work between the two had failed (foiled by firewalls locked down by our security folks) - the Trust unit solved the problem in <1 minute.
I really must stop loafing and get back to work...
