Stick the disc in a Hi-Fi to see if the music is there as a starter..

is this a shop bought cd you're talking about or a cd with mp3's etc on it?

  • Yep - they are playing fine on hifi - and they are shop bought music discs.

What OS are you using XP for example....

Are you trying to play them on Windows Media Player.

How are you viewing the files?
  • Usually I have just put the discs in and the box has come up with options, this hasn't happened and i've looked on the properties of the disc and found nothing which i know isn't the case. i have got xp, do i need to update the media player?
I just wanted to put the music into the computer and can't seem to do it now?
    thanks!

Ok download and install WMP 10 http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/mp10/default.aspx

Then when installed, Open Media Player, then go to, Tools, Options
    File Types, select all, Ok

Ok do this first of all to see if any problems are there..

Right Click the "My Computer" Icon go to properties left click, now go to the
hardware Tab, the Device Manager, in the list that has appeared can you see any
yellow or red exclamation marks next to or near Sound,Video...
  • Done both of them and still nothing happening? I'm totally flummxed as this hasn't happened before.
    Thanks for all your help.
