Sky HD, is it that much better?

Hi All,
We had Sky HD installed yesterday. When the engineer left HD hadn't icked in, he said it would be a couple of minutes before the signal came through. When we switched the TV on last night we could get the HD channels but to be honest we couldn't see much differnce if any. We were expecting a lot better picture and we're not sure if it's been installed properly but before I phone Sky and get a load of waffle just wanted to make sure we're not expecting to much. Any input would be gratefully received.

On what sort of television (make/model/size) are you watching it and by what means is it connected to your Sky HD box?

Don't laugh at banana republics. :rotfl:

As a result of how you voted in the last three General Elections,
you'd now be better off living in one.

Q: Sky HD, is it that much better?
A: yes if you have a good enough TV
The orginal post in this thread has a very very slim chance of being about money saving. The post is more than likely to ask a question that google could answer better than any of us.

You will soon see a considerable difference. It will be in your next monthly bill from Sky.

:rotfl: :rotfl: Very true, and hardly any discernable difference in picture quality, depending on how well your TV displays SD material of course.

We had Sky HD installed this week and compared Mask of Zorro on Sky One and Sky One HD, and it was definitely clearer/sharper in HD.

Sky HD is really only of benefit on big screen TVs. 32 inch or less and it wont be that noticable.

We had Sky+ previously and it was much more stable. Our HD box is prone to crashing - maybe a couple of times a month, usually when its recording something.... :-(

Had HD a couple of weeks now and the pic is way up on SD, Got a 37" Panasonic LCD and the level of detail with HD is awesome, still mightly impressed with the SD pic though but sports viewing is way improved.
No problems with the box so far except it seems much slower when initially turning on and in response to the remote control.
All in all well worth it:D
