No payment received from buyer

I'd be interested to know how long people on this site wait for payment from a buyer before starting the NPB process.

My situation at the moment is that two weeks have passed and no payment has been received. I sent a reminder invoice after a week and was assured a cheque would be sent straight away. The buyer had some 'personal circumstances' at the time (fair enough). A week has passed since then. I appreciate this may be genuine but the buyer has bought eight items from me and the fees do add up!

I've sent the invoice again and am prepared to wait another few days. What do you reckon?

I wait seven days, then file a NPB dispute. Usually once ebay have contacted them they pay up rather than risk a strike on their account.
Ebay~ A wretched hive of scum and villainy. :p

    ditto the above,
if you're brave, neg them also, but there is a chance they'll neg you back :-(
i've been lucky tho, i always neg NPB, and only been retaliated against once!

I usually send a reminder email after about 5 days and then file a NPB alert after 7 days.

  • Cheers! Only problem is the buyer has bought eight items and so I would have to open eight seperate disputes...

I've just opened the one dispute for now and if I hear nothing by Sunday, the rest will follow

    Hi,

With a reminder invoice, should you just use the same wording as for the first invoice, or word it differently? If differently, anyone suggest what to write? Normally my buyers pay up very promptly, or at least communicate, but I've currently got two items with no payment or communications received which were won last week.

  • Can someone give me some advice? Its related to the original question. I went through the dispute and had my FVF refunded and have also left 6 unpaid item strikes for the buyer.

I feel I should also leave negative feedback for the buyer but of course risk getting neg'd myself. I have a feedback score of 220 and 100% whereas the buyer has one neg from 12 transactions. What would my feedback look like after being neg'd? If the buyer leaves me negative feedback can I report it to eBay as unfair?

If ebay really gives them 6 strikes, then they should be booted off! You might want to wait and see what happens. If you do leave a neg and receive a retaliatory one, it would take your feedback percentage down to about 99.5% (97% odd after 6 negs, though!)

There are new feedback rules coming in that would prevent the buyer from leaving feedback if they did not participate in the dispute process, but I don't think that is in effect yet. Unfortunately, ebay don't remove feedback except in exceptional circumstances (scrutinise any feedback you receive against the list in the additional info section of this page).

STrikes are per unique seller, so the six strikes left by the OP will only count once.
