hi, my daughter has brought back a xbox 360 live "Don King presents Prizefighter" game for her brother. However when he's tried it this morning, the caption on the screen says "load this into an xbox console"......Do the games from abroad not 'transfer' to uk xbox? any advice appreciated

Not all of them. Some are region locked, others aren't.

Most are region locked, but some are region free and Play-Asia sell a few European versions too, which I have had and used in the past - just make sure it says PAL and English and you'll be fine if you have a UK console.

You will not be able to trade these games in at GAME though - they don't accept imported games

So if you were to sell them at some point then ebay is your best bet

I use Play Asia to for Xbox 360 games normally cheaper and available before the UK official release but i always use the Region Free search on their website first, and i would suggest the brown paperbag delivery option to avoid any extra customs taxes etc.
Never ever had a problem just takes a few days for delivery, you can sometimes also find a discount code to save another few $

from the Play-asia site it says
    Take2 Interactive
    Compatible with Xbox360™
Asia, No Region Protection / Sports
    so it should play?

(apologies for being a numpty here)

It should be fine, assuming that it is the correct one as listed - definitely listed as PAL on the site and has English as the language.
Maybe the Xbox laser is playing up?
The listings on Play-Asia are usually bang on - and I've always received a money off voucher for my next purchase.
