Hi, just a few notes, the SUPRA keysafes can indeed have more than 4 digits, but you cannot use the same number more than once. They do not have to be entered in the same order every time, ie 1234 is the same as 1324. You are not limited to any number of keys to press, anywhere between 1 and 9, so the potential burglar not only has to guess your code, but also how many digits it was in the first place. I am pretty confident that our code will not be guessed!
But I could crack yours inside half an hour.
The burglar will normally guess that you are using four digits (like a PIN number or birthday etc). You have actually confirmed (in your previous post) that this is the case with yours. As you can, indeed, only use each number once, this means there is a very limited number of possible combinations, 210 if I've calculated it correctly. It would take no time at all to run through those.
The manufacturers of Keysafe recommend that you should use at least 5 digits because, as you point out yourself, it only becomes easy if the burglar knows how many digits. If they should want to try to crack your code, they would obviously try 4 digits, as it's the obvious one. Anything more than 4 and they could be there all day and night and not crack it.0 -
Hi, I am a mother of two children, I am always having problems with keys and key storage. I used to keep the keys in a hiding place, however I thought there must be a better way to keep a spare key.
On investigation and searching web sites I found a company called Shurlok. http://www.hideakey.co.uk and also several other companies. However I discovered that the Shurlok had 10,000 possible combinations of access and was 50% of the others. I purchased one and I am very happy. :T The kids love it too.

Found a site that has the SUPRA Keylocks at keener prices than the one posted before
http://www.linkelec.com/ORDER_KEYSAFE.html
Still not quite Shurlock prices (cheapest is £39.85 incl p&p), but I think that's still better value for money than the £22 or so for the Shurlock.
And without any question, SUPRA, or Shurlock for that matter, is better value and more convenient than sparekeys.com. Plus, it can be used anywhere, not just in London!
Perhaps Martin could negotiate a SUPRA discount for MSEers with linkelec.com or keysave.co.uk (similar to the Orchid dialler discount)?0 -
Hi,
I have been digging around in the Shurlok WEB site. I have discovered that if more than one Shurlok is purchased there are significant discounts to be made.
There is an offer to purchase 3 locks for only about £15.60 each. This price also includes shipping. I think that is excellent value, don't you?
See link http://www.shurlok-keystorage.co.uk/Epurchase.htm0 -
I've had my shurlok attached to my motorbike for 6 months now, i'm useless with keys and its saved me kicking the door in before now, i keep my ignition key in there as well
Cheers Mike
PS My mates tried to crack the code and failed.....0 -

Is it a coincidence that the proponents of Shurlock all seem to have just joined as MSE posters? Must go and ask Mr Watson!0

I have an even better way of getting into my house if I lose my keys. 24 hours a day. 365 days a year. No charge. There within 5 mins. Would highly recommend. The service is called "Dad With a Spare Key". Don't know what I would do without him. So handy. :T :T:j little fire cracker born 5th November 2012 :j0

After the car locking itself with my handbag, wallet, phone, house and car keys (motor still running  ) I decided to bury my keys in the back yard.
I put them in a plastic bag and buried them quite deep in the lawn. It didn't look too bad to start with and now you can't notice the place where they are buried. I have a wee trowel for the weeds always handy so even at 3am I can still dig them up. :T:think: If you want the rainbow, you've gotta put up with the rain :hello:0 -
This could be quite a useful skill, something to while away those dark winter evenings when there is nothing on the telly - http://www.gregmiller.net/locks/Survivor of debt, redundancy, endowment scams, share crashes, sky-high inflation, lousy financial advice, and multiple house price booms. Comfortably retired after learning to back my own judgement.
This is not advice - hopefully it's common sense..0
