Citibank Current Account Application

Hi guys,
I have recently been turned down for a Current Account with most major banks, so a few days ago I applied for a Citibank Access Account as my last attempt to get a fully fledged current account. At the end of the application it said it would send my application pack out.
This morning I received a covering letter saying that they were pleased to confirm my account had been provisionally accepted and I just needed to send them a utility bill with my name and address on it and it said as long as it was satisfactory they would send out my debit card and pin etc.
Has anyone ever dealt with Citibank and also what does 'Provisionally Approved' actually mean? I've only ever got decline or approved?
Many thanks.
Chris.

I did the same last week. Provisionally approved just seems to mean that "based on the info you provided on your initial application, you're likely to be the type of person we'd accept" (eg. has a job, lives in uk etc.)
- they then ask for proof of id/address
- then after that they do the actual checks.
so you havent really passed anything yet.
They process applications pretty quickly, within a couple of days of sending your proof, you should call them up on their freephone number. You'll find out there and then if you've passed, save time waiting for royal mail0 -
My mam got this letter, and a few days after sending off the bank statement, she was rejected due to poor credit rating. So don't hold your breath since you've been rejected elsewhere.0

I have had the "provisonally" approved letter.
Sent back my identification forms and now have a letter stating
"we have started to process your application and will be in contact shortly if we need any more information etc. If we dont need any more we will open your citibank product as quickly as possible etc"
Probably means they havent made a decision yet?0 -
I've had the same letter today. Went to Yorkshire Bank though and got a basic account but comes with a Maestro card...so nearly as good.0
