Another feed from SKY Box

I want to set up another telly in another room. I presume I can get another feed from my Sky box ? If so I presume it means running another cable fro my Sky Box ? What will be be - Scart lead ? Coax cable ?

Coax cable works fine - IIRC there is a second signal out terminal on the back of the box.

If you then get something called "magic eye" it will allow you to use the remote control from the other room. I've got that and it works fine.

The other alternative is one of the wireless signal extenders though I've found that these interfere with my wireless network.

The only thing to remember is that you will only be able to watch the same channel in both rooms (fine if like my your by yourself). If you want to be able to watch two different channels you'll need a second box.

Get a twin LNB and a second box.

The LNB is the bit on the end of the dish arm, that receives the signal. A quad LNB has four outputs so that it can feed up to four receivers e.g. here

The box is the most expensive bit, you already have that, LNB's are cheap enough all you need then is some coax and a couple of plugs. Two boxes two remotes, you can kick the missus upstairs to watch CSI while you watch the footy.

Love the idea. I think that I'll get one but wont I need another Sky Card ( i.e. pay twice ) for the box that I currenlty dont use ?

Only if you want to watch paid for channels on both receivers.

To get sky on another tv in the same house you can simply connect another co-ax cable and run it to another tv. This means you can only watch the same channel though, someone changing the channel on the box would mean all tv's connected would be watching the new program.

To watch two DIFFERENT channels on two different tv's in the same house, you would need sky multiroom. This is basically where you would have another cable running from the dish to another box in another room. This second box has its own viewing card and can change channels independantly of the main box in the house.

If you go through sky, i beleive multiroom is an extra £10 per month on top of your current package. You do however have to have both boxes connected to the same phone line permantly for the duration of the multiroom contract.

If however you only wanted to watch the free channels, then you can forget the extra £10 a month and simply connect a new box with some cable to the dish. You MAY however need to get another viewing card for a one off small charge as some are free-to-air and some are free-to-view (some require a card, some dont).
