Windows Task Manager

Now, i am not able to terminate any programme using windows task manager. This has been the case since the last two days. Everything gets jammed up, even the task manager sometimes and i have to just switch off the computer my pressing the on/off button for 15secs.

So, why does this happen? Why does my laptop gets jammed up? What can be done?

Have you done the obvious, i.e. virus scan, etc.?

Windows XP
I use AVG - the last two full computer scan (over 80000+ programme, is that normal?) returns to be normal.May be its not picking up??

1) As a process of elimination approach, have you tried running through the virus guide on this site?

2) Have you Googled your problem?

try Process Explorer instead of task manger
