Brother DCP120 all in one printer problem

I have a Brother DCP-120C all-in-one printer which I got for £50 after seeing an offer on the grabbit board. I think a few people have bought them and wonder if anyone else has had a similar problem to me?
There is an error message on the LCD screen saying "unable to clean - see troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in user's guide" and I can't use the printer at all, not even for copying or scanning.
I followed the instructions in the user guide and found a piece of paper that was jammed in the printer, which I removed. The user guide said the printer had to be unplugged from the mains power to reset it, which I also did. The error message is still on and it won't go away
I've checked and there's definitely no paper still stuck inside. I'm thinking the printer's kaput and I'll have to buy a new one, as it will probably cost a lot to repair. Any ideas anyone?

Can anybody help? I've contacted Brother but haven't heard back from them either. I've got some things to print out so need to get this sorted soon. Failing that, can anyone recommend a good all-in-one printer?!0

Brother are very good in tech support, did you ring them? Very helpful staff.
I would recheck for any jammed paper also look for very small bits left under any paper sensors.0 -
Agreed, they are very helpful, indeed if they cannot offer a fix, they may possibly offer a replacement FOC.0

Thanks for the replies but my printer isn't working
I've been in touch with Brother again and they just told me the procedure for checking for paper jams (which I'd already done from the manual) and they suggested that because I couldn't find any more jammed paper I needed an engineer to fix it. I live in West Yorks and my nearest one is in Essex apparently!
So I guess I need a new printer  as I've got something I need to print out in the next couple of days. Please could anybody recommend a good multi-function one? I was thinking of the HP C4480 from Argos (would prefer it from a shop so I can nip out and pick one up rather than get it delivered): http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/6704063/c_1/1%7Ccategory_root%7COffice%2C+PCs+and+phones%7C10198997/c_2/2%7Ccat_10198997%7CPrinters+and+fax+machines%7C10199063/c_3/3%7Ccat_10199063%7CAll-in-one+%28printer%2C+copier%2C+scanner%29%7C10199068.htm It's quite a new model and I've only found a couple of reviews but they said the photo printing quality wasn't that good. Can anybody recommend another one? Thank you!
EDIT: Thanks for the help everyone, I've ordered a Canon Pixma MP610 from Amazon, it's got all the features I needed and excellent reviews0
