Is it possible to recycle laptop batteries?

Does anyone know of anywhere that recycles the batteries from laptops?

You should be able to dispose of them at your local tip. They should have a section for WEEE (electrical & electronic waste). This can't go to landfill, so materials will be recovered and reused. If you want to find out exactly what happens to it, get in touch with your local council and ask them who the provider is, and for the stats on wht happens to the materials - as this is classed as hazardous waste, they should have detailed information available for environmental reporting.0

Thanks for that Freddy, but as this is the Green and Ethical MoneySaving thread I don't think that chucking 'em in the bin is appropriate!
Mind you, I can't see a way of recycling them and saving money - as I don't think there is likely to be anyone out there who actually pays for old laptop batteries. Or is there?0
