Help, can't get home insurance due to claims!

Options
My current insurer (Budget) have just written to me telling me they won't renew my policy this year. I have had 4 claims in the past 2.5 years - 3x buildings for £650, £300, £305) and a burglary last year for just over £5000. Annoyingly two of the buildings things were basically the same problem it just wasn't fixed properly the first time (with a different insurer).

My policy now expires in a couple of weeks and I go on holiday at the end of the week and will be away when it runs out so I really need to get it sorted in the next couple of days.

I'm having a nightmare getting a quote from anyone - nobody will deal with me. I've got one company (Adrian Flux) who are confident they can get me a quote with a specialist - presumably at a mega-price - but nobody else will quote me.

Any suggestions for further companies to try? I've tried all the main ones I can think of and used confused.com etc. Even my mortgage provider (Natwest) won't quote me, despite it being a term of the mortgage that it is insured!!

Try a broker. They will know if there are any specialist firms to try.

Thanks - have you got any suggestions for brokers?

No - but look them up in your local phone book, (insurance intermediaries). If the one you speak to cannot help, ask if they can suggest a specialist.

Be prepared for either high premiums or no-one prepared to take you on.

Try the BIBA website to find a decent broker in your area.

If you have a mortgage get your buildings ins thru them!! They have an interest and should be able to get you a quote all be it a very dear one!!

You have only had on claim on your contents search for that separately!!

Go thru Quidco too! but only if your cheapest price or as near as poss is on their site as payment isnt guaranteed!! I KNOW!!

No good trying to use quidco - as none of their insurers will offer an online deal with this history.

Insurance is there to pay for losses, but at the end of the day they are not a charity!!

to be honest, You have made an excessive amount of claims, shame you didn't have someone advising you as to the likely outcome.

You haven't stated what they were tho.

Thanks everyone, will give the suggestions a go.

I did try my mortgage provider but they wouldn't quote - even though I said I had my mortgage with them. They said it may be a condition of the mortgage but they weren't under obligation to provide it.

The claims were for Storm Damage, Escape of Water, Escape of Water again and a Burglary.

None of these are exactly my fault - it's not like I'm after car insurance after driving into 4 different parked cars or something!

It's a bit stupid that you have it but can't use it though...! 2 of them were for water pouring through the ceiling. When that happens you tend to call the insurance co and say "help!". Had I known it would've only cost £300 to fix I probably wouldn't have. And when you've been burgled to the tune of 5 grand you don't have much choice either!
