Hi all, we are doing up a room for my son to move into in preparation for the baby due in Ocotober.
We are replacing the central heating radiator as the old one was tatty and not very efficient.
We need quite a big one as it's a big room.
We looked in B&Q and they had something about the right size for about £70.
We got a plumber in to quote for fitting one and he said it's a quick job and he would pretty much charge us the cost of the radiator.
He came back with a price of £170! Either he buys radiators from somewhere dearer than B&Q or something funny is going on.
The pipes are already there, one may need moving if radiator is narrower or wider than the old one but there's not more than that needs doing.

people in the trade know better than to buy at B&Q
myson or stelrad radiators are far superior, last b&q rads i fitted where poor quality, paint was rubbish and spot welds shown on the face of the radiator
as always you pay for what you get
and who was going to pay for the plumbers time to collect your radiator!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure0 -
Spoke to a friend who is a plumber down south. He reckoned about £120-140.
Got another quote from a local plumber - £140 - he got the job, came over as much more friendly and interested according to my other half.0
