Purchases and balances transfers

We have an M&S credit card which we used because of it's competitive "life of balance" interest rate. There is still an outstanding balance on that card.

I have read that purchasing foreign currency using this card at the M&S bureau will not incur any foreign transaction fee provided it is paid off in the following statement. We are considering buying some Hong Kong dollars before we go on holiday using the M&S credit card and then using our Nationwide account to withdraw money abroad.

So our question is - Will purchasing foreign currency have an adverse affect on our balance transfer rate with this credit card?

According to the 'order of payments' on your card, any purchases placed on the card will be locked in at 18.9% APR until you completely clear the entire balance.

    Don't do it!
