Possible credit card scam

Hi guys,

This is my first time of posting on here, but I read this forum a lot - and I love it.

I am posting because I have had a bit of trouble with my credit card and I urge you to check your statements thoroughly. I always pay my credit card balance every month so it is easy to spot any irregularities.

I bought something on my card the other day costing exactly £97. When I checked my online statement, a few days later the only entry there was the £97, but that balance showed at £97.09, the following day, the same, but the balance showed as £97.18 and yesterday the balance showed at £97.24.

I called the bank and they had no reason for this, so credited the 24p and told me to keep an eye on it.

This morning I checked the account online and found a balance of £97.06 - called the bank and they are crediting the balance, but still don't know why this is happening.

I don't think many people would notice the odd pence discrepancy between the items listed on their credit card statement and the total balance, so I thought I should let everyone know so they can add up the statement entries and make sure that the balance tallies.

I am not mentioning the bank involved as so far its not their fault and they are looking into it. If you have had similar problems let me know, maybe we can help the bank sort this out.

All the best
Emily

Was the purchase in a foreign currency ?

If so, there could be fluctuations in the exchange rate causing these anomalies until the transaction clears.
