I have a very strange scenario!!

Okay, somehow I managed to open a bank account with Natwest and get a credit card with Capital One under a different surname due to me unofficially taking my stepfathers surname as a young boy.

After managing my money pretty poorly and in my uni days, my credit is pretty shocking and cant get a loan and even struggling to open a new bank account!

But I have the idea of using my real name instead of the one I unoficially adopted from my step father. My passport and birth cirtificate all show this real name so this wont be a problem - I dont even know how I managd to get these accounts under that name to be honest.

Is it possible that my real name has a decent credit rating as i have never had anything under that name since I was about 10! (im 23 now)

Thanks for reading guys, your responses would be appreciated.

Your other 'clean ' name won't have anything negative, but also won't have built any sort of credit rating. Its hard to get credit when you have never had any!
  • Don't do that-it will come back and bite you on the bum! People try that one when they get married-but banks aren't stupid anymore and change of names always leave a trail.
