BT account closure

Can anyone help? We asked BT for a breakdown of phone calls as for the second time in a row the bill was £250+ and this seemed a bit strange as we dont make many calls. We then had no response and when we contacted them again they said we had cancellled the direct debit that we had! This was a revelation to us and when they finally contacted us we again asked for a breakdown of the telephone charges, they then cut off the phone. After sending an email asking about this we received a bill for nearly £570 stating that the account had been closed and they were now charging for the remainder of the 12 month contract. Is there any way we can get this sorted especially by not having to pay the charges for the remainder of the contract as we now feel that BT are bullying people into paying for their mistakes.

Do the bills correctly register your DD payments? This looks like they might be mixing you up with someone else. After the uprising of the 17th June The Secretary of the Writers Union
Had leaflets distributed in the Stalinallee Stating that the people
Had forfeited the confidence of the government And could win it back only
By redoubled efforts. Would it not be easier In that case for the government
To dissolve the people
And elect another?0
